"A Land Like No Other"

"A land like no other" That's what the tourist advertising says about Sri Lanka - and it's certainly not like any of the other places we have visited on this trip.

Imagine this: tropical beaches, crashing surf, busy cities, mountains, monkeys, mango swamps, tea plantations, cricket games, monsoon rains, arrack, elephant rides, wild elephants, dump elephants, spice gardens, garbage eating city cows, curry and rice, ginger beer, tuk-tuks, Lion Beer, colourful saris and sarongs, crazy bus drivers, beeping horns, cars on the "wrong" side of the road, Buddist temples, bananas, pineapples, mangos, jackfruit, giant bamboo, beeping horns, welcoming smiles, flowers, firecrackers, New Year in April, candle-light dinner at a table on the sand, monkeys with babies, bare feet on hot temple stones......
