Cobra = Royalty!

Cobras on camels! How much better can it get?

Did you know that the cobra snake was a sign of royalty in the time of the Pharohs in Egypt? We learned many fascinating facts at the Cairo Museum. It is, guide books warned us, a dusty old place where it's hard to see everything and most of the exhibits are not well labeled in any language, but hey, it's Egypt, and those are real mummies: people, dogs, cats, birds, fish, baboons, turtles and even crocodiles!
We mixed ancient and modern and took John to see "Percy Jackson, Lighting Thief" at the local cinema . Actually, it's not hard to find the modern in Cairo, just walk into the street and observe the chaos of traffic. No lanes, no lights, no crosswalks. It works, though, because all the drivers follow a code of beeps and hand signals. Nelson is glad we do not have a car here!

  2. Super photo of you three on the camels! Love it! Just as sunny here today, although we see snow up on the Skimmerhorns, etc. still. Webcam pic of Kootenay Pass looks like it must have had fresh snow yesterday or overnight. The big Canada-US hockey game is on TV - very tense!
